Primary Research Program

Instead of just reading about scientific breakthroughs, experience what it means to be a researcher. Our Primary Research Program Gives students the opportunity to learn how to read scientific or academic literature, find gaps in the literature, and then develop their own novel research question.

Students, alongside their mentors, will develop the experimental protocol and carry out real experiments. Students will be guided through the data collection & analysis processes. Those findings will then be transformed into understandable conclusions, which can be linked back to the broader field of study. Final products can be shared at science competitions, published in a peer-reviewed high school journal, or simply used as an experience to deepen a passion for discovery.

Through this program, students can practical research skills and the confidence to think like academics.

Secondary Research Project

In this program, students develop the skills of a scholar by exploring a topic of interest in depth and contributing to the academic conversation through a comprehensive review paper. Students learn how to evaluate scientific literature, synthesize findings from primary research articles, identify emerging trends, and communicate complex ideas through clear, evidence-based writing.

Working one-on-one with Dr. Eliotte Garling, students select a topic that aligns with their interests and are guided through every stage of the writing process—from conducting literature searches and organizing scientific evidence to drafting, revising, and preparing a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed high school journal. Along the way, students build critical skills in scientific writing, source evaluation, data interpretation, and academic communication.

Junior Explorer Program

Designed for curious students in grades 5–8, the Junior Explorer Program introduces the foundations of academic research through engaging, age-appropriate projects centered on each student's interests. Whether they're fascinated by dinosaurs, space, medicine, marine biology, genetics, engineering, or environmental science, students learn how to ask meaningful questions, evaluate reliable sources, and communicate what they discover with confidence.

Working one-on-one with Dr. Eliotte Garling, students explore academic literature, organize evidence, and write a well-structured research paper while developing essential skills in critical thinking, technical writing, note-taking, and information literacy. Along the way, they gain experience distinguishing trustworthy sources, synthesizing information from multiple perspectives, and explaining complex ideas in their own words.

The Junior Explorer Program builds the curiosity, independence, and academic confidence that prepare students for advanced research opportunities in high school while fostering a lifelong love of learning and discovery.
